Peru is land of diversity and diversity: the cultural heritage of the incas and the Spanish colonists is combined with the variety of landscapes and ecosystems. From the Amazonian jungle to desert areas through the unlimited Pacific beaches, the territory is also devolved to high altitude Andean regions, like the east where the imperial city of Cusco stands at more than 3 4,400 meters. It strikes through its impressive beauty; its streets and squares are full of churches, convents and casonas, but also patrician houses from the Spanish architecture. To admire them, we have to leave behind the fountain and the sublime religious buildings of Plaza de Armas, which are not without remembering the magnificent square of the same name of the country's second city, Arequipa. Located in the extreme south of the Peruvian Andes, Arequipa represents a privileged tourist place, with its beauty and multiple points of interest. It is the starting point for many excursions to nearby volcanoes, but also to the Cañon del Colca. This canyon, deep over 3 ¾ 000 meters, allows to observe, in a point dubbed the «╚ watchliness», the flight of the mythical condors.
But each part of Peru has many secrets that only time and archeological research will allow to rise. In order to avoid the loss of an obvious cultural heritage, some strive to preserve the ways of life left by other civilizations. Thus, the Aymaras Indians wish to continue the framework and organization of the indigenous people of the Uros Islands who lived on Titicaca Lake but disappeared in the 1950 s. Access to these islands is made from the city of Puno, and their visit is to say the least. Without doubt, these characteristics and the ambient mystery, all contribute to making these Uros Islands the major tourist attraction of this lake over 8 thousand 000 square kilometers, which, let us remember, is the highest navigable lake in the world since it is located at 3 ¾ 812 meters above sea level.
Finally, magic and surprising, Machu Picchu is Peru's most visited site. Located 2 ¾ 900 meters high between Wayna Picchu, the young summit, and Machu Picchu, the old summit, the city shows an ingenious organization. It is divided into three main areas: one for the people, the other for the nobility, the last for the sacred activities, dominated by the Intiwana, the "place where the Sun is situated". An unavoidable visit and memories for a lifetime.
