FIESTAS PATRIAS

During the Fiestas Patrias, Chileans celebrate their national holiday in a grand way. It's a party for more than a week.
This festival, certainly the most important in Chile, dates back to 1811 and takes place on the 18th and 19th of September each year. It celebrates the country's Independence Day although the declaration was approved on February 12 of the same year: in fact, September 18 corresponds to the creation of the first national government. The country highlights its culture and traditions, the main lines of its identity, and even leaps into the past to revive hundreds of traditions that have disappeared. Dances, folk songs and gastronomy are on the agenda.
