The birthday of the revered Seretse Khama is celebrated with joy throughout the country, especially in Serowe, his hometown.
Every1 July, this national holiday commemorates the anniversary of the birth of the first president of independent Botswana, the much revered Sir Seretse Khama, who was born in 1921. In the country, the father of independence is seen as a true hero and exemplary leader, a symbol of honour and dignity. On this day, all of Serowe, Seretse Khama's hometown, is celebrating! Traditional dances, political speeches and ceremonial marches are held in front of a large audience that has come to pay tribute to him.
