Entrance fees to parks and reserves are still affordable, especially for self-drivers going on fully-equipped safaris. Other travellers can use an incoming agency or tour operator to organize all safari logistics, at a higher but all-inclusive price.
What's very local
In the Okavango Delta, you'll find plenty of opportunities to take a trip in a mokoro, a canoe built from a single block of wood. Whether in the dry season or during the rains, they offer a timeless escape along the water's edge. This is an opportunity to observe numerous species of birds and admire superb landscapes. Some remote delta lodges are only accessible by plane or helicopter. Panoramic views are exceptional, especially over herds of buffalo, elephants and zebras.
