Timetable
The reserves and national parks live to the rhythm of the sun, opening their gates in winter from 6am to 6.30pm and, in summer, from 5.30am to 7-7.30pm.
To be booked
Self-drivers must reserve their public campsite well in advance with the Department of Wildlife & National Parks. They can only stay in the park until 11pm. If this time is not respected, they will have to pay a new entrance fee.
Budget & Tips
There are many tour operators in Botswana. Admittedly, their services are more expensive, but they will take care of all the formalities, the guide and the entrance fees, which are included in the price.
Smokers
In the bush, smokers should refrain from lighting a cigarette to avoid causing a fire. If they do smoke, they should make sure to extinguish it. Smoking is permitted on lodge terraces, which are equipped with ashtrays.
What's very local
In some Botswana villages, it is still customary to gather once a week around a large fire to share a local dinner, accompanied by traditional song and dance.
