Timetable
The reserves and national parks live by the rhythm of the sun and open their gates in winter from 6:00 am to 6:30 pm and, in summer, from 5:30 am to 7:00 pm.
To be booked
Self-drivers must reserve their public camp site well in advance with the Department of Wildlife & National Parks. They may only stay in the park until 11:00 pm. If this time is not respected, they will have to pay a new entrance fee.
Budget & Tips
There are many tour operators in Botswana. Certainly, the services are more expensive, but they will take care of all the formalities, the guide and to pay the entry fees, included in the services.
Smokers
In the bush, smokers should refrain from lighting a cigarette to avoid causing a fire. If they do smoke, they should make sure to put it out. Smoking is permitted on the terraces of the lodges, which have ashtrays.
What's very local
In some villages in Botswana, it is still customary to gather once a week around a large fire to share a local dinner, accompanied by traditional songs and dances.
