The mobilizations are remarkable in Guatemala City, where, in addition to the mass, a procession is held in the old neighborhoods.
Guatemalan Catholics celebrate the Virgen de la Candelaria on February 2, the date that symbolizes the presentation of Jesus Christ in the Temple and the purification of the Virgin Mary. Mobilizations are held in several villages, but they are most notable in Guatemala City, where, in addition to the mass and prayers in the Candelaria church, a procession takes place in the old parts of the city. Imported by the Spaniards, this custom would come from Tenerife specifically, in the Canary Islands.
