OMANDA Tours is THE one and only agency that offers skeleton coast tours! This experience is part of your "to do list" in your life, between Machu Pichu and the Chinese wall surely. Two Frenchmen, Vincent and David, desert purists, have the chance to make you discover this still preserved space
This 2 weeks trip is reserved in advance because the tickets are filmed and expensive. Several days in total immersion on this 200 km coast declared a protected zone in 1971 where no vehicle has the right of passage, except for Omanda TOURS

At 210 km from Swakopmund, at the level of the Ugab river bed, the Skeleton Coast Park begins with the southern entrance Ugabmund (mouth of the Ugab). The border between ocean and dunes is marked only by a wide strip of white sand, on which the foam rolls. This is the bed of the track that runs, endless, to the horizon. The black wings of the Cape cormorants spread out over the ocean, and on its turbulent surface a frozen wreckage is visible here and there. On the desert side, huge expanses of sand, sometimes strewn with white bones, store heat. In the blur of the vibrant light, the plateaux of gneiss and granite veined with white quartz and riddled with pink feldspar seem to tremble. Declared a "protected area" in 1971, the Skeleton Coast Park, so named because of the wrecks stranded on its shores, extends from the Ugab River in the south to the Kunene River (border with Angola in the north) and is 40 km wide, covering an area of 16,390 km². Only the southern part of the park, the least impressive, is open to the public. So if the exclusive part is by far the most interesting, why go to this park? This question is entirely justified and the answer is simple: fishing, again and again!
Indeed, this southern section of the park is mostly frequented by fishermen. However, a hike in the bed of the Ugab River or simply crossing the park via the C39 towards the heart of Damaraland may justify a passage
Le Petit Futé recommends a 15 days tour in advance: This unique Safari will allow us to visit the great sites of Namibia. Etosha, the inescapable animal park, the wild party is permanent. The Atlantic coast with its colony of fur-and-eared sea lions. The Sossusvlei dunes, the highest dunes in the world, are the scene of a palette of shapes and colours that change throughout the day. But what will keep us busy during this exceptional trip is the search for an animal that normally has nothing to do in a desert and semi-desert environment. Namibia is one of the only countries in Africa, along with Niger, that hosts a small population of pachyderms that have adapted to extreme living conditions. We will go off the beaten track to try to cross the trail of these survivors of prehistory. Bivouacs in the middle of nature, community camp with toilets and showers, we will spend about a week observing these famous desert elephants in different regions. Unique experience, excellent photographic opportunities. During this trip, in the Kunene region, we will also come across many animals, giraffes, springboks, oryx, zebras, a small population of lions also inhabit these valleys.
