Several sailing competitions take place on the Omani coast during the winter months. This is the case with the Extreme Sailing Series (usually in March), a very spectacular competition of ultra-fast catamarans (GC 32 catamaran), whose competitors clash with a few dozen meters from the shore. The public attends the races from the beach and Al Mouj Marina where floating pontoons are specially established for the occasion.
