This Muslim holiday marks the end of the fasting of the sacred month of Ramadan. In Arab countries, this festival is known as Eid al-Fitr. For a month, in the kampungs and around the mosques, the famous Ramadan bazaars are held where a multitude of ready-made dishes are sold. Local customers hurry there to buy the evening meal, the iftar, consumed after dark. For Hari Raya Puasa, it is common to keep her house open and cook for all her relatives: this is the concept of rumah terbuka or Open House.
