The train is the new ally for travel in some parts of Saudi Arabia. Two lines depart from Riyadh. The first serves the east of the country, passing through Al Hofuf and ending in Dammam. The second runs north to the Jordanian border, to Al-Quarayyat, via Buraydah and Hail. The second rail hub is for Muslim pilgrims. A high-speed line links Jeddah, with its international airport, to the holy cities of Mecca and Medina. The train is cheap and very comfortable.
