The Harvest Festival is celebrated for two days by Hindus who honor Suryakaran, the sun god. The first rice harvest of the year is celebrated: women draw colored kolams with rice paste at the entrance of the houses, which constitute food for the ants and the insects which will thus come to bless the hearth. On the first day, a sweet rice cake is offered to the god Surya, which is then eaten at the end of the meal. The second day is dedicated to the buffaloes who assist the farmers in their tasks in the fields.
