Budget & Tips
Cruises are a very good deal in the Seychelles. With low introductory prices and the possibility of saving on accommodation, car hire, inter-island transport and restaurants, it's a real bargain. Yacht Charter Adventure, for example, rents catamarans of various sizes. There are also companies offering cruises that include diving. The Galatea company offers private charter of a 30 m Turkish schooner. Silhouette Cruises offers cruises in one of the air-conditioned double cabins on its three sailing yachts. These options are ideal not only for divers, but also for those who just want to treat themselves to a delightful swimming break in some incredible spots and off-the-beaten-track accommodation.
Renting villas of varying sizes can also be a great option for couples or groups of friends. In Mahé, the Sea Monkey villa (from €2,200 per night) offers 8 guests a luxurious setting in the north of the island, as do the two Palm Royal villas (6 or 8 guests, from €2,100 per night) in Port Glaud. Domaine Desaubin, in the southwest, offers dreamy 80m2 bungalows on a deserted beach (from €160 per night). In Praslin, the villa Mille Étoiles, perched on the heights of Anse Gouvernement, is a dream option that starts from €310 for the whole villa and 6 people. Not far away, on Côte d'Or, the aptly named Villas d'Or (from €279 for 2 people and €530 for 4) are a great option for living with your feet in the sand. At a higher standard (from €1,000 to €3,500 per night for 3 or 4 bedrooms), the villas offered by Le Duc de Praslin offer exceptional amenities. On La Digue, Lakaz An Bwa is a superb seafront residence that can accommodate 4 adults and 4 children (€500 per night), while Secret Garden Villa offers three bedrooms with a unique view (privatizable, otherwise €275 to €390 per double room). On Cerf, the Surf Tropical Villa Seascape is a dream destination for the lucky 10 occupying its 5 rooms (from €800 per night).
Please note that since August1, 2023, a tax called "Tourism Environmental Sustainability" has been in place to commit government projects in favor of environmental protection. Like the taxe de séjour in France, it will be collected by hotels. It will apply to all tourists over the age of 12, and will be SR25 (approx. €1.70) per person per day for hotels with 24 rooms or less, SR75 (€5) for hotels with 25 to 50 rooms, and SR100 (€6.80) for establishments with more than 50 rooms, yachts and island hotels.
