Under the green canopy of Mount Ilam, amid wheat fields and fruit trees, stands the Amluk-Dara stupa, considered one of the jewels of the Gandhara civilization. Dating from the 3rd century, this Buddhist complex was home to devotees until the 10th century. Rising on a square base of 34 metres in diameter, the majestic stupa is also topped by a hemispherical dome measuring 7 metres in height. To the north and east of the stupa, you can see the ruins of what was once a monastery.
