Of all Hindu festivals, the Festival of Lights in honor of the goddess of wealth Laxmi is one of the most dazzling.
The Festival of Lights is one of the most dazzling in Nepal! It takes place over five days starting from the thirteenth day of the waning moon in October. In all the houses of the towns and villages, candles and lamps are lit to welcome Laxmi, the goddess of wealth. Several ceremonies follow one another and are devoted to the worship of certain animals: the ravens, considered to be the messengers of Yama, god of Death, the dogs, guardians of purgatory, and finally on the third day, the high point of the festival, the cows, decorated with garlands.
