Practical information : Going out Kyrgyzstan
Timetable
In Bishkek, a number of nightclubs have sprung up in recent years, some of which have become regular haunts of the local golden youth. Others are more popular with expatriates and Russians. Choose your atmosphere! In any case, this will certainly be your only opportunity to get out and about before setting out to discover the country. There are a few bars and nightclubs in Osh and Karakol, but they're by no means Kyrgyzstan's best asset.
Apart from a few establishments in Bishkek, the cities fall asleep after 10pm.
To be booked
Reservations are not required for outings unless you are a large group.
Night transport
Public transport doesn't operate at night, but wherever you are, there are always cabs running at night, even if there are fewer of them. Fares are obviously harder to negotiate than during the day. Don't forget to use the Yandex app, which will save you tedious haggling.
Age restrictions
The sale of alcohol to minors is forbidden, although in practice no one really checks the age of customers. On the other hand, if you're with friends, it's better for the man to do it: it's very bad form for a woman to buy beer or a bottle of vodka.
What's very local
In both Osh and Bishkek, the two main cities of the country, you will find small amusement parks in the city centre with rides, shooting ranges, ice cream... It is the meeting place for people to go for walks during weekends and evenings, in a family and good-natured spirit that dates back to the Soviet period. Very low prices, food served on the go, cheap beer, music... Everything is there to have fun!
