The end of the Second World War is celebrated on May 9. Parades and commemorations throughout the country.

May 9 marked the end of the Second World War, as it did throughout the former Soviet Union. The German surrender on the Eastern Front was signed one day after the Allied surrender in the West. This was in response to Stalin's express wish for a separate peace. In Uzbekistan, it is customary to refer to the Great War against Fascism rather than the Second World War. Parades and commemorations take place in all the country's public squares.
