Durga Puja is one of the most celebrated Hindu festivals in Bangladesh. She celebrates the victory of the goddess Durga on Mahishasura, a demon protected by a invicibilité against men or gods… but not women. For 5 days, Hindus detonated firecrackers, develop provisional temples and reproductions of the idol in straw and dried mud. On the last day, in Dhaka, the statues of Durga were thrown into the Buriganga river, thus symbolising their departure from the Earth. On this occasion, Hindus exchange gifts and wear new colored attire.
