Since July 15, 2014 French nationals can enter Kazakhstan without a visa for stays of less than two weeks. The French are the only Francophones to benefit from this measure, which affects some ten countries. After Kyrgyzstan, which has exempted French, Swiss and Belgian travellers from visa requirements for stays of less than two months, it is the second Central Asian country to launch a "seduction operation" that makes life easier for both tourists and entrepreneurs. Unfortunately, conditions for entry into neighbouring countries, Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan in particular, are tending to become tougher.
