It is the Mongolian New Year. Get ready for a week of celebrations consisting of banquets, offerings and gifts.

Tsagaan Sar, or "white moon", corresponds to the Mongolian New Year. This festival is very important in the Mongolian culture, and is the occasion of important family gatherings and codified ceremonies. On New Year's Eve, the bituun is held, a traditional meal during which the guests must eat as much as possible to ensure a rich year. The celebration gives place to ritual offerings and causes many travels: the Mongols leave to present their wishes to their family and friends and exchange presents.
