This festival has its origins in ancient celebrations of the arrival of spring, on the day of the equinox or between March 20 and 22. For 3,000 years, it has been celebrated by many communities in Eurasian countries, but is thought to be of Persian origin. In this language, the word navrus means "new days". In Mongolia, it's the Kazakhs in the west of the country who organize grandiose festivities to celebrate the new day: competitions, traditional games, sporting and musical events, banquets and feasts are all part of the program!
