BOHYUNSAN OPTICAL ASTRONOMY OBSERVATORY
The Bohyunsan Observatory is quite recent since it dates back to 1985, the year it was first built. It was in 1994 that he acquired his letters of nobility with the observations he made of the crash of the comet Shoemaker-Levy into the atmosphere of the planet Jupiter; even if the whole observatory did not really become operational until 1996. Its main component is a particularly powerful telescope with a diameter of 1.80 m. Weekly visits open to the public are organised on the 4th Saturday of April, May, June, September and October, from 2pm to 4pm. They include conferences (so you have to understand Korean), but also and above all the discovery of the facilities (1.80 m telescope, solar telescope, domes and buildings). These visits are free and open to all, regardless of age. It is important to book before coming via the observatory's website (or possibly by phone), Monday to Friday, from 10am to 5pm. Even better, according to our information, evening observations are also generally scheduled.
