The day of coming of age is a holiday on which young people who have just turned twenty - the age of majority (seijin) in Japan - or will come of age before April 1 of the current year are celebrated. They are invited to a ceremony organized by the town hall of their place of residence. In Tokyo, the young women dress in magnificent ceremonial kimonos and the young men in black suits. In other regions, men make all sorts of completely wild variations around the traditional hakama clothing.
