This ancient All Saints' Day tradition is truly exceptional. It is a very special event and a must-see.
Every year, families gather at nightfall at the graves of their ancestors, to tend their tombs and place a lantern on them. Children are given the task of honouring the empty graves nearby, so that none of the dead are forgotten. Compact crowds gather in the cemeteries, strolling along the aisles, which are covered with fragile lights. Meanwhile, an open-air mass names all the year's departed. Heroes and veterans are honored. It's a truly memorable event, and a must-see.
