December 31 is the occasion to celebrate the passage to the new year with a profusion of fireworks.
The New Year is celebrated twice, once according to the Gregorian calendar, on 31 December, and again according to the Orthodox calendar, on 14 January. December 31 is the occasion to celebrate the passage to the new year with great pomp and circumstance, as is the case everywhere in the world. What is surprising, however, is the profusion of fireworks that are fired and that literally set the sky on fire that evening. This is particularly true in Pristina where, for several hours, rockets are fired from all parts of the city. It must be said that the tradition of fireworks is very strong here.
