Independence Day (Dita e Pavarësisë/Dan Neovisnoti) is celebrated on February 17. This date recalls the unilateral proclamation of independence of Kosovo in 2008 (recognized by 54% of UN member states in early 2019). Since then, this date has become a national holiday. It is an opportunity to organize festivities throughout the country (concerts, traditional markets, exhibitions ...). On this occasion, the NewBorn sculpture of the capital is also relooked every year.
