This day (Dita e Çlirimit/Dan Oslobotenja) is celebrated with great pomp and ceremony throughout Albanian-speaking Kosovo. It must be said that it celebrates the liberation... from the Serbian oppressor. This day is therefore a pretext to take out all the Albanian flags and to decorate houses, cars, and anything else that can be decorated. A day in red and black. In the cities more affected by the 1999 conflict, official ceremonies of varying importance are organised. This is notably the case in the Drenica region and more particularly in Skenderaj.
