The equivalent of our November: families clean the family graves and burn incense in honour of the ancestors.
Equivalent to our November 1st, it takes place on the 105th day after the winter solstice. Qingming in Chinese is the day you sweep the graves. In Taiwan, the feast is now celebrated on April 5, the day of Chiang Kai-shek's disappearance. It is common to burn incense and silver paper to pay homage to one's departed peers. In some families, objects related to the life of the deceased are deposited, such as a lighted cigar for a former smoker.
