Chinese New Year is by far the biggest celebration of the year in Taiwan and all Chinese communities.

Chinese New Year is by far the biggest celebration of the year in Taiwan. The first moon of the first month of the year is celebrated (three public holidays). When the Gregorian calendar was officially adopted, the term Spring Festival was commonly used to distinguish the Chinese New Year from the Western New Year. The Year of the Snake celebrations will begin on January 29, 2025 and continue for 15 days. Family and friends gather for large banquets, where fireworks and firecrackers ward off evil spirits.
