The Mamoudzou Sanaa International Arts Festival takes place at the end of August/beginning of September, in the Mamoudzou covered market, next to the entrance to the barge. It's an event not to be missed, as it is a powerful symbol of the island's diverse talents. Numerous artists take to the stage and set the crowd alight for hours on end. The vast majority are local singers and performers, but every year, internationals also turn out for one of the highlights of the cultural calendar on Île Hippocampe.
