Although Madeira isn't a party-goer's favorite destination (we prefer to go to bed early to be ready for the morning hike...), Funchal has its fair share of nightlife, and there are even a few nightclubs. These are open most of the night (at least until 4am).
Budget & Tips
Admission is either free or charged, depending on the evening (around €10). If you arrive before 1am, there are often discounts, or even free entry. Girls rarely pay admission (especially on ladies' nights or before a certain time). Check the program on social networks.
To be booked
Except in exceptional cases (a world-famous star coming to the show?), there's no need to reserve your entrance ticket in advance.
Age restrictions
You must be at least 18 years old to enter a nightclub. Don't forget your ID card or passport, as you may be asked for them at the door.
What's very local
Enjoy a poncha in one of the small bars in the port of Câmara de Lobos, facing the bay.
Smokers
Smoking is prohibited in clubs, entertainment venues and the casino.
