Museums and other visitor attractions are generally open all week, with a closing day on Monday or Sunday. Some establishments close at weekends. They are open all year round, with extended opening hours in high season. However, almost all are closed on December 25 and January1. Ticket offices may close one hour before the official closing time.

Enjoying yourself Madeira

Apart from cafés and snack bars open from morning until night, restaurants generally open from 10am or midday and close around 11pm or midnight. It's not uncommon for them to close a little later on weekends. While some are open every day, summer and winter alike, the majority close on Sundays. Options will be greatly reduced. It's best to book your table at the weekend.

Get out Madeira

Although Madeira isn't a party-goer's favorite destination (we prefer to go to bed early to be ready for the morning hike...), Funchal has its fair share of nightlife, and there are even a few nightclubs. These are open most of the night (at least until 4am).
