While they brewed in the facilities of Deca in Woeste until 2005, Nino Bacelle and Guido Devos then passed the linguistic border to establish their brewery facilities in Dottignies, nearby Mouscron. The head office is located in Wevelgem. At De Ranke, the place granted to hops is significant. This raw material is so dear to the eyes of the two managers that they decided to make of a branch (rank) of hops the emblem of their brewery.
More than the name, it is even the work of hops which requires the attention of the two men. Out of question therefore using hops excerpts as in most breweries. Here, they use real hops of Poperinge and Warneton cones with all the economic difficulties and practices that go with it but also the desire to make a beer of very high quality. Homemade product that reflects best this method is probably the XX Bitter, a blonde of 6.2% alc. vol. brewed with hops of Brewer's Gold and Hallertau type.
Lately, the double X saw a big sister arriving, the XXX Bitter, a beer initially prepared for the US market and which was finally integrated into the existing range in Belgium. The request for the De Ranke beers being increasing, in particular abroad which "drinks" 60% of the current production, the persons in charge decided to gradually increase their offer which should border the annual 9,000 hectolitres until about ten years, more than the double of the current quantity.
