No risk of fire: these torches are traditional Catalan flutes, sounding in unison to celebrate summer.
On the occasion of these festivities, which mark the arrival of the summer period (which will really be celebrated during the great vigil of Midsummer's Day on June 24), one of the highlights is the so-called "chalumeaux" concerts. They have nothing incandescent but the melodies, since it is actually the traditional Catalan flute. During the festival of the chalumeaux, hundreds of people gather at the entrance of the main sanctuaries of the principality and celebrate in a fraternal spirit the arrival of the beautiful days.
