This festival celebrates the birthday of the Prophet Mohammed with a night of prayers followed by a hearty meal.
This festival commemorates the birth of the Prophet Muhammad. Its celebration in Morocco dates back to 1292, on the initiative of Sultan Abou Yacoub Youssef. It is also known as Mouloud or Mouled, depending on the region. Muslims gather in the country's mosques for a night of prayer. The feast is accompanied by a hearty midday meal of tamina, the Prophet's favorite dish. It's a simple mixture of semolina, butter and honey. The women don't hesitate to add pastries of their own making.
