Imbolc is an Irish Celtic religious festival, also celebrated under the name "Feast of Saint Brigid (or Brigitte)". On this occasion, while we are about to devour pancakes to celebrate Candlemas in France, in Ireland, we celebrate the end of winter and the arrival of spring. It is part of the four Fire Festivals that symbolize the change of season: Imbolc, but also Beltan, Lughnasadh and Samhain. The custom on the Emerald Isle is to light candles at home and to weave crosses.
