The Virgin Mary is highly honored in Malta, but it's in Mqabba, in the south of the island, that the most important celebrations take place.
Feast of the Assumption of Our Lady is particularly honored in Malta. Celebrations take place in 7 villages during the week preceding August 15 (Attard, Qrendi, Ghaxaq, Mgarr, Mosta and Rabat in Gozo). The biggest celebrations take place in Mqabba, from July 30 to August 22, with daily marching bands and fireworks. They culminate on August 14 with a fireworks display set to synchronized music.
