NEW YEAR'S EVE
Go there and contact
New Year's Eve is celebrated everywhere in America, as elsewhere, often with the custom of the "drop", originally a time ball.
Concerts and fireworks are part of every New Year's Eve celebration. In the United States, the "drop" is also part of the New Year's customs with variations from one state to another. A giant ball, known as a time ball, is dropped from its promontory. The origin of this tradition goes back to one of the first time balls which, installed in 1833 at the Royal Observatory in Greenwich, England, was dropped every day at 1 p.m. so that ship captains on the Thames could check the time on their chronometers.
