SPACE WEATHER
Space Weather is a very useful American site for the traveler looking for polar aurora. Even though Shakespeare's language is not really mastered, it is understandable about solar eruptions and, indeed, about possible auroral alerts on Earth! Indeed, the polar aurores are linked to the solar particles emitted by our star, which come knocking and electrizing the atoms of the Earth's upper atmosphere, generating a loss of energy in the form of photons (light). These luminous phenomena of great beauty occur mainly towards the north and south poles (visible from Iceland, northern Canada, Lapland, etc.). Polar aurores are difficult to predict… but when significant eruptions take place on the Sun, the probability of aurora appearing on Earth is high. Space Weather gives alerts on its site (and even offers automatic alerts service by e-mail), then dependant on the amateur to watch within 2-3 days following the possible appearance of these light draperies.
