Americans are sporty. You have Pilates classes in the morning at 6am, joggers, cyclists, rollerbladers along the San Francisco waterfront, on the Berkeley campus, in the green spaces of Silicon Valley or in Central Park all day long, with crowds in the early morning, at lunchtime and at the end of the day... The National Parks are also very popular with hikers and climbers, as well as the beaches on the spots for surfing, the rivers for kayaking, the streams for rafting... To lie down on the well-mown grass of the public parks or along the banks, or to sit on the benches of the squares while watching the walkers passing by, it is free! There are also often free dance classes in Manhattan or San Francisco.

Employees often take their gym bag to the office with a yoga outfit, rollerblades, a jogging for the sports break they allow themselves during the day, instead of a lunch break... At least in the city.

To be booked

Supervised or guided activities and introductory courses (diving, etc.) must be booked in advance at a tourist office or directly with the sports centers. Some gyms are open to visitors. You must reserve your seat in advance to attend important baseball, ice hockey, basketball, American soccer games... The same goes for the big shows and ice dancing competitions.

Main events

The New York City Marathon, held on the first Sunday in November, is one of the most popular sporting events in the United States. It is a 42 km race that has been held since 1970 and brings together 50,000 participants

And every year in February, the whole country watches the Super Bowl, the final of the American soccer championship
