Practical information : Going out Ecuador
Timetable
Nightlife is particularly lively on weekends, from Thursday to Sunday, much like in France. Bank holiday eves are often lively too. Nightclubs open around midnight, but are often preceded by a visit to an establishment where drink and music go hand in hand. We recommend La Oficina brew pub, near Quito's Plaza San Blas, for this purpose.
Budget & Tips
Expect to pay around US$10 for entry to a nightclub. Drinks are around US$5-10 a glass.
To be booked
Reservations are essential for theaters and concerts, as well as for soccer matches if you're a fan.
Night transport
At night, whatever the city, we go home in cabs or VTCs booked in advance to avoid tricks and stay safe.
Age restrictions
Consumption of alcohol is forbidden to minors under the age of 18, and entry to nightclubs is also reserved for adults. Don't forget your identity card or passport (a copy will do) if you look younger than your age!
Smokers
Smoking is forbidden in enclosed spaces in Ecuador, but many night spots have terraces for smokers.
Tourist traps
Watch out for drug sellers of all kinds, mainly in big cities. Not only is it illegal, but the products are often adulterated and even dangerous.
