Mother's Day is very important. It is a holiday. It takes place on December 8, day of the Immaculate Conception.
While in all Latin American countries and in most of the world, Mother's Day is celebrated in May, this is not the case in Panama, where since 1930 the Día de la Madre is celebrated on December 8, which coincides with the day of the Immaculate Conception. This celebration is very important in the isthmus and is a public holiday. People gather with their families around the queen of the day and bring her flowers, gifts and poems. There are even celebrations in schools and various public institutions.
