To stimulate its tourism sector, Thailand is preparing a major operation: 200,000 free air tickets will be distributed to foreign travelers for domestic flights. The country has seen a 7% drop in international arrivals since the start of 2025.

The aim of this campaign is twofold: to support the off-season and to encourage tourists to discover less-visited regions. The scheme, which has yet to be approved by the government, is due to be launched in September, and will run until November 2025.

A supervised operation

The offer is aimed exclusively at non-resident foreign travellers arriving by air in Thailand. Six airlines are taking part: Thai Airways, Thai AirAsia, Bangkok Airways, Nok Air, Thai Lion Air and Thai Vietjet.

The amount covered will be up to 1,750 baht (approx. €50) for a one-way ticket and up to 3,500 baht (approx. €90) for a round trip, with 20 kg of baggage included. Tickets must be booked directly with the companies or via online travel agencies, but only after the program has been officially approved.
