If the carnival is a popular event every year in Guadeloupe, the 2023 edition will have marked the spirit of Guadeloupeans but also of tourists. The big parade of Mardi Gras was the occasion of a nice surprise for the public present in the streets of the city of Basse Terre: Indira Ampiot, Miss Basse Terre, then Miss Guadeloupe and finally Miss France 2023 since December 2022 made the trip from France to participate in the parade of its carnival group of Basse Terre called Prestige.
First on board her float and then descended on the red carpet, the new Miss France has literally "set fire" this event. She has once again conquered the public for her joy and spontaneity.
The carnival ends on Ash Wednesday with the "burned Vaval". The effigy of the carnival is then burned by the devils and devils dressed in black and white after a large parade followed by the crowd.
Each year, the carnival begins on the Sunday of the Epiphany. Many festivities punctuate this event in the four corners of Guadeloupe.
