A Caouanne turtle named "Max" was released at sea on Wednesday 15 April on Babin beach in Vieux-Bourg - Abymes.
The 72 kg animal had been collected by the aquarium care centre in Guadeloupe after being caught on the end of a fishing line. The hook attached to his beak had been removed under mild anesthesia by a veterinarian. L'Ecole de la Mer, which has taken charge of the turtle, is an association whose aim is to help the public discover and raise awareness of the marine world.
For its release, children from schools, CLSHs and the population were invited to participate in this event
