These volunteer lifeguards intervene 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, at the request of the Centre Régional Opérationnel de Sauvetage et de Surveillance des Antilles-Guyane (CROSSAG). The association is mainly financed by donations from individuals and companies. They carry out search operations at sea, assist vessels in difficulty, assess the condition of people to be rescued, give them first aid and bring the wounded and shipwrecked ashore, where other rescue organizations take charge of them.
