Halloween with a Costa Rican twist, Noche de las Brujas celebrates the culture, traditions and legends of the territory.
A very popular festival throughout the country, Noche de las Brujas, or Witches' Night, is comparable to Halloween. Children dressed in costumes go from house to house and receive treats. Parades, fireworks, folkloric and popular music and other cultural activities of Costa Rican society take place throughout the country. Legendary characters such as the Llorona witches, the Segua or the Cadejo are celebrated. This festival aims to promote Costa Rican traditions in the face of celebrations that come from abroad.
