50 ha land, 4 500 ha marine. In the bay of Coronado, south of Sunday (province of Puntarenas), this recent park protects beaches, cliffs, islands and rocky reefs. Off the coast, the porous coral reef represents an important habitat and breeding area of marine fauna. It is the southernmost site for the reproduction of the Jorobada whale (Whale megaptera) which can be seen between December and April. Other curiosity: The park is home to six mangrove species, one of which is very rare.
