Once in Nicaragua, you'll probably want to take Nicabus if you want to continue your journey to Costa Rica. It serves Chinandega and Managua from San José, the Costa Rican capital. Departures are daily, at 5.30 a.m. from Chinandega and 8.30 a.m. from Managua. The journey from Managua takes 8 hours. The company has a fleet of modern, comfortable buses, and is fairly punctual. Don't forget that to leave Nicaragua, you'll have to pay an exit tax of $4.
