The end of the Second World War in Europe is regularly commemorated by the countries of the old continent on 8 May. Victory over Fascism Day is both a holiday and a day of rest in the Slovak Republic. The German command signed the unconditional surrender into the hands of all the Allies, including the USSR, shortly before midnight on May 8, 1945. It entered into force at 11.01 p.m. Central European Time; it was already on 9 May in the USSR.
